Why You Need to Add Avocado to Your Meals - Great News for Avocado Lovers

Great news for all of the avocado lovers! 

A new study suggests that meals that include fresh avocado as a substitute for refined carbohydrates can significantly suppress hunger and increase meal satisfaction. 

For many years fats have been demonised, linking their consumption to weight gain, heart disease and cholesterol. But over the past few years scientists, researchers, and doctors have been learning more about all of the amazing benefits of healthy fats.

Avocado is a healthy fat.

Healthy fats much more filling and satisfying than refined carbs. 

Benefits of avocado - (the short list)

  • They’re delicious and can be used in a variety of recipes

  • Avocados are nutrient dense and are packed with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.

  • They have anti inflammatory properties.

  • Their high fibre content assists in digestive health and help you stay fuller for longer.

  • They play a roll in supporting arthritis, anti-aging properties including healthy skin, hair and nails.


So, if you find yourself craving refined carbs shortly after a meal, add half an avocado or a whole avocado to your meal and see what happens.

You can add avocado to every meal: breakfast, lunch and dinner!

How to add avocado to your meals

  • Add half an avo to your smoothie

  • Add sliced avocado to your sandwich

  • Add diced avocado to you salad or soup

  • Mash a whole avocado with a fork, add salt, a squeeze of lemon and freshly chopped cilantro (optional). Use as a veggie dip, as a salad topping, or on toast
