You Can Choose

Today I came across the phrase:
“You cannot always control what goes on outside. But you can always control what goes on inside."
Today I feel irritable and short-tempered. Every little thing is setting me off. But as I read the phrase, I realized that others shouldn't have to pay the price when I am feeling off. It’s easy to blame the circumstances or a particular situation to justify your feelings or behavior.
Being in control of a situation brings feelings of security. But the truth is you have very little control over most situations, and that can create stress, fear, and insecurity. However, you do have control over your attitude. It doesn’t matter the situation--favorable or not--you and you alone are responsible for choosing how you act and treat others.
You must find ways to be aware of your thoughts and actions. There are many ways to cultivate more love and peace inside you, even though everything seems to be falling apart.
Today I chose love, peace, and tolerance. No matter what is going on around me, I have the power to chose how I react and treat others.
Everything we do is a choice.
Optimism is a choice.
Happiness is a choice.
Giving back is a choice.
Forgiveness is a choice.
Being honest is a choice.
Spoken words are a choice.
Teaching others is a choice.
Showing gratitude is a choice.
Respecting others is a choice.
